Perdido Key State Park

When you want to visit the beautiful Gulf Coast, one name comes to mind, the Navarre Beach Camping Resort. From here you can see all the sights, sounds, and wonder of the Coast. Gulf Coast Florida offers a variety of options for any visitor. There is the vivid nightlife, amazing restaurants and exciting people. Another option is to check out the beautiful features that nature has offered up. One of these great sights is the Perdido Key State Park.

The Park

Perdido Key is a 247-acre barrier island near Pensacola. Barrier islands play an important role in protecting the Florida mainland. They provide habitats for shorebirds and other coastal animals while also keeping back some of the damaging effects of storms. Perdido Key offers white sand beaches and rolling dunes which makes it a great spot for swimmers and sunbathers.

What To Do

We’ve already mentioned swimming and sunbathing, but the park offers so much more. Many individuals also enjoy surf fishing. Commonly caught species are redfish, pompano, whiting, flounder and others. You do need to follow all the relevant rules regarding fishing, which may include a fishing license. Speaking of surf, why not try out some surfing? Perdido Key is a great place to catch a wave and as the winter months hit it is an ideal time for that activity. Another winter activity that is popular here is shelling. You can find calico clams, cockles, and other types of shells. Just a warning though, live shelling is prohibited in all Florida State Parks.
